Mother in a nest

This is a rather old poem of mine (2010, I think) about a dove mother with two eggs. I just stumbled upon it now, and thought that I should put it up considering the fact that we have 2 pigeon chicks right here on our balcony!

The mother in a nest,
Watching, expecting,
Hoping she's the best,
For the little ones to come.

The mother in a nest,
Guarding, protecting,
For life's big test,
She loves her chicks a ton.

The mother in a nest,
Brown, beautiful,
Trying to get some rest,
Hopes to be a good mum.

The mother in a nest,
White, tiny,
Are her precious eggs,
She wants a daughter and a son.

The mother in a nest,
Caring, loving,
For the eggs 'neath her chest,
She's the best one.
